Approved eBL systems
The International Group of P&I Clubs (IG P&I) represents the insurers that provide liability cover to shipowners and carriers. It reviews eBL providers’ terms and system functionality, including whether the solution can digitally perform the functions of a paper bill of lading, to confirm that they meet relevant legal, contractual, operational and reliability requirements. This approval is important because liabilities arising from the use of paperless trading systems are covered under P&I Club rules when the system meets the International Group’s approval requirements.
